McDonald's Cash: Worker Hands Bag Of Money Instead Of Order

A Tennessee couple placed their daily breakfast order at the local McDonald's drive-through but instead of breakfast sandwiches, they received a bag containing thousands of dollars in cash.

Now, that's a true happy meal!

Greg and Stacye Terry of Hermitage, Tennessee, made their regular stop at to a local McDonald's drive through where an employee mistakenly handed them a bag filled with thousands of dollars instead of their regular order, the NewsChannel5 reported.

The bag filled with cash was kept near the drive through orders with various other food orders.

The cash had been placed in a McDonald bag as it was to be deposited at the bank later on in the day.

"My husband opened the bag and discovered the money inside," Stacye said. "He said, 'You are not going to believe this.' Sure enough, it was their bank deposit money."

The couple said the McDonald's on Lebanon Road is a local favorite.

"This will never, ever happen again in our lifetime," Greg was quoted as saying to NewsChannel5.

The mistake was quickly realized by the McDonald's employee who was able to catch up with the Terry's at their home which was minutes away from the fast-food chain. The money was immediately returned by the couple, without hesitation.

"The second that he said it was their deposit, my first thing was let's get in the truck and take it back," Stacye said. "There is no other way to have it. I couldn't live with myself."

In response to Terry's actions, McDonalds owner and operator Phil Gray issued a statement saying, "We are grateful for this customer and the action they took upon realizing our error.

"We are looking into why this mistake happened, but what is most important to us is knowing that we are part of a community with the values that were evidenced by this person's actions," Gray said.
