‘Family Guy’ Brian Griffin NOT Dead: Stewie Devises Plan to Bring Talking Dog Back to Life?

"Family Guy" fans could be getting a major surprise during the Christmas episode on Dec. 15. According to Entertainment Weekly, Brian Griffin might be making an appearance on the show. Fox released the official description of the episode which reads: "Stewie devises a master plan to get the one and only thing he wants for Christmas."

Could that mean Stewie's figured out a way to get Brian back? EW did point out that the lovable canine is listed as a character for the show and he is supposed to appear in future episodes. Reportedly for an episode scheduled to air next fall, Brian falls for an avid runner (voiced by Maya Rudolph). To win her over, Brian pretends to be a runner.

"After Brian experiences the 'runner's high,' he becomes a distance running douche, and even signs himself up to run a marathon," executive producer Steve Callaghan told EW in October.

There have been rumors that Brian was going to return from the dead and fans have definitely expressed their dislike in the character being killed off. Shortly after the episode aired a petition was started demanding the show "Bring Brian Back."

On the Nov. 24 episode, the Griffins' family pet died after being hit by a car. Earlier in the episode Stewie destroyed his time machine and couldn't find the pieces he needed to save Brian. Callaghan told E! Online that the dog's death was originally brought up during a meeting and they decided to do it because it would be a "fun way to shake things up."

"As soon as this idea came up, we started talking about what the next couple episodes could be and we got very excited about the way this change will affect the family dynamics and the characters," he said explaining that Brian's death would be less "traumatic" than one of the other character's being killed off.

"It seemed more in the realm of reality that a dog would get hit by a car, than if one of the kids died," Callaghan said. "As much as we love Brian, and as much as everyone loves their pets, we felt it would be more traumatic to lose one of the kids, rather than the family pet."

On the episode, the Griffins got another pet named Vinnie (voiced by Tony Sirico). A source told TMZ that Sirico is set to appear in at least six episodes and more could be added."
