With the amplification of the market in South Asia, Xiaomi has become one of the prominent players in the tech market. With its low-budget smart phones and fully loaded features, the company has been successful in achieving good customer response.
The Xiaomi Note clan of smart phones is a mixture of a tablet and a smart phone and could be referred to as the phablet range from the company. The next major flagship of the company in the Xiaomi Note range of phones is the Xiaomi RedMi Note 3. The Xiaomi RedMi Note 3 was launched in China last year.
The Xiaomi RedMi Note 3 sports a full metal body and has rounded edges along the sides. A round fingerprint scanner is located just below the camera, while the dual LED flash unit is located in between the camera and the fingerprint scanner. The powerful speakers are located on the lower back portion of the phone, which resembles the MeizuMX5 to a certain degree. The top edge of the phone has a 3.5-mm audio jack and an infrared blaster for controlling IR home appliances. The right-hand edge has a volume rocker and standby buttons. It has a charming matte finish on the rear side which provides a good grip to the phone and a chrome strip running around the edges which gives the phone an elegant finish.
The Xiaomi RedMi Note 3 sports a 5.5-inch, full-HD IPS LCD display, with a pixel density of 401 ppi. However, it does not come with Corning Gorilla Glass protection, but the display is scratch resistant. The IPS LCD display has quite a good contrast ratio and decent black levels.
Looking at the processor side of the phone, the Xiaomi RedMi Note 3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC chipset, housing a hexa core processor, with a dual core Cortex A72 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz and a quad core Cortex A53 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz. This is paired with Adreno 510 GPU and comes in two variants of RAM, as 2 GB RAM with 16 GB ROM, and 3 GB RAM with 32 GB ROM. The phone operates on the Android 5.1 operating system with MIUI 7.
On the media side of the phone, the Xiaomi RedMi Note 3 features a 16-megapixel primary camera with an aperture of f/2.0 and a 5-megapixel secondary camera. It houses dual SIM card slot and also supports voice over LTE (VoLTE), Wi Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, FM Radio, infrared port, GPS with AGPS and so on.
The Xiaomi RedMi Note 3 is powered by a 4050-mAh non-removable Li-Polymer battery, which is quite decent, keeping in view the other features of the phone.
In the present status quo, the Xiaomi RedMi Note 3 is considered to be the closest competitor for the LeEco Le 1s in the global market.
