The Aussie team, which recently lost a T20I series against India and New Zealand, is looking for a confident start in the global T20 event. Skipper Meg Lanning has said that her team is well-prepared to play at Nagpur's heavily spin-friendly pitch.
"We've certainly done a lot of work on playing spin as a batting group and also on how we can bowl it as well. There's no doubt spin is going to play a big part in this tournament but we've thought a lot about it and I'm sure we'll be ready to play well with bat and also use the weapons we've got with our bowlers as well," Lanning said in a pre-match interaction with media.
The Proteas team, which has never won a match against three-time defending champions Australia, is looking to register a win in their first ever ICC Women's World T20 game.
"Every game in the World Cup is a big game. We will take them all one match at a time. Our preparation going into the match against Australia has been thorough and in a T20 game, anything can happen, it will boil down to the team who apply their basics the best winning the game," South African coach Hilton Moreeng said.
