The mother of a terminally ill 3-year-old boy transformed her garden into a spectacular snowy winter wonderland to fulfill her child's simple wish-to see snow.
Melodie Williams, 41, who lives with her son in the parish of Rowley Rigis in England, asked local businesses to help with the surprise after deciding she had to make the most of the time she had left with her three-year-old son, Mason.
According to the Daily Mail, Mason Williams, born with hypoplastic left-heart syndrome, requires an operation but is not yet well enough to undergo it. He is also unable to speak due to a chromosomal disorder, according to the report.
"I had a meeting with the cardiologist and he said Mason's blood pressure was too high for him to have an operation to extend his life," Melodie told the Daily Mail.
Hoping to fulfill her son's wish, Melodie set out to transform her front garden into a snowy dreamland.
One problem: There was no snow. Melodie fixed that with the help of local firms businesses who sent trees and lights and organized for 400 liters of snow to be imported to her garden.
"I just had to do something now in case he's not alive next time it snows," Melodie told The Daily Mail. "If I didn't do it now, and something happens to him, I'd never forgive myself for not making the most of the time we had."
Yahoo News U.K. spoke with Melodie about the generosity of the companies and individuals who helped her realize Mason's dream.
"I am so grateful to everyone who helped us. Things like this just don't happen to me. I'm so lucky that I could make this happen for Mason," she said..
The 3-year-old was reportedly delighted by the surprise and spent about an hour playing in the snow.
"He laughed and giggled as he touched the snow," she said. "He can't speak, but I knew he was loving his treat. Watching him was amazing; I will remember it forever."
