Boston police officers shot and killed a man who fired his weapon on two other law enforcement officials Saturday afternoon.
One of the cops sustained injuries in his hand, according to the Boston Globe.
Interim police commissioner William Evans reported that two police officers came into contact with two men who were "known to police," close to Geneva Avenue and Westville Street at around 1p.m., Saturday.
After they exchanged words, one of the men pushed a police officer, then produced a weapon and opened fire at the cops.
Officers returned fire, and fatally shot one of the men. The second man was taken into police custody.
The officer who was shot was rushed to a medical facility, Evans said, adding, "thank God, he's gonna be fine."
"It's troubling for us," Evans told the Globe. "This neighborhood has come a long way. It's troubling in the daylight, to have something like this happen."
An investigation has been opened concerning the shooting. As of Saturday evening, local bus routes15 and 17 on the MBTA were being moved away from Geneva Avenue.
