Shirley Temple's Rare Blue Diamond Ring To Be Auctioned Off [PHOTOS]

The rare blue ring that was worn for years by Shirley Temple is going up for auction. The stunning 9.45 carat ring, which is estimated to be worth between $25 and $35 million, will be auctioned off April 19 by Sotheby's.

The ring was given to Temple by her father in the early 1940s and was purchased for $7,210 around the time of the actress' 12th birthday and the premiere of her film "The Blue Bird." If Temple's father had purchased the ring today, it would be estimated to be worth about $122,000. The gorgeous ring was worn by Temple for decades, until her death in 2014 at the age of 85.

"Shirley Temple helped to lift America's spirits out of the Great Depression and served her country in many capacities throughout the remainder of her life," said Frank Everett, sales director of Sotheby's New York jewelry department, adding that the ring recalled "a time when she was nothing short of the biggest movie star in the world."
