comScore's market research on key trend in the mobile world says that Apple and Samsung are the favorite Smartphone choices for consumers and Android takes the lead in comparison to Apple's iOS in platform preference.
A latest market analysis by the research firm comScore shows that Apple has been successful in attracting more customers for its iPhone lineup than Samsung for its Galaxy series. The survey also says that Android is preferred over iOS.

Samsung took second place with 25.4 percent of the total smartphone market, which is a significant boost of 1.3 percent in the last three months. Both Apple and Samsung took a monstrous 109 percent profit combined for the third quarter this year, an earlier report from Canaccord revelaed. Motorola, HTC and LG rounded off the top five with 7 percent, 6.7 percent and 6.6 percent, respectively.
According to the data gathered for top smartphone platforms, Android continues to lead the charts with 52.2 percent market share (up from 51.8 percent in July). Apple saw an increase of 0.2 percent since July, holding up to the second position with 40.6 percent. Other platforms including BlackBerry (3.6 percent), Microsoft (3.2 percent) and Symbian (0.2 percent) accounted for small shares.
With the increasing number of smartphones, the potential for apps' growth is higher. Facebook ranked the top smartphone application with 75.7 percent of the app audience. Google Play (54 percent) and Google Search (52.2 percent) took the second and third place, respectively. Music plays an important role in people's lives, which is clearly explained by Pandora attracting 48.2 percent app audience and YouTube taking 48 percent. Google Maps topped Apple Maps with a high margin (43.1 percent vs 23.2 percent).
Although smartphone apps entertain a vast audience, Google sites secure a prominent place in mobile media audience.
"Google Sites ranked as the top web property on smartphones, reaching 88 percent of the mobile media audience (mobile browsing and app usage), followed by Facebook (84.4 percent), Yahoo Sites (77.9 percent) and Amazon Sites (65.3 percent)," comScore said in a release.
