India Women, which began its World T20 campaign with a comfortable victory against Bangladesh, lost its second Group B encounter against Pakistan Women at Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Saturday. Batting first, the Mithali Raji-led side posted a modest 77 for six. Pakistan was 77 for six at the end of 15th over when rain interrupted the game. The Sana Mir-led Pakistani women's cricket team won the match by two runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method.
"In the initial overs the way we batted, bowled and fielded became very crucial. While batting we got stuck in the first six overs and also gave away runs while bowling. They (Pakistan) were very disciplined and were backed by their fielding. In the first 10 overs we hardly got any boundaries. We could not bowl with discipline when we started off the innings. As a team we did not play according to our expectation," Indian skipper Mithali Raj said.
England Women, which won its opening match against Bangladesh, is looking to maintain its winning momentum. The team defeated Bangladesh by 36 runs on Thursday. Batting first, England posted a challenging total of 153 for seven in 20 overs at Bangalore's batting friendly pitch. Skipper Charlotte Edwards struck 60 runs off 51 balls for England. Bangladesh, in reply, managed to score 117 for six.
