Samsung Teases The Mysterious Galaxy J Smartphone; Likely To Debut Exclusively In Japan

A YouTube video of an upcoming mysterious smartphone strongly points to an imminent Galaxy S4 variant for Japan. Maybe the Galaxy J?

Samsung always has a grand unveiling for its latest technology additions, hence the appearance of a mysterious YouTube video hinting at a Galaxy variant is a little unusual for the electronic giant.

The teaser video, released on YouTube Thursday, describes the unannounced smartphone as "Just fast," "Just elegant," "Just for you" and "Just simple." The emphasis on the word "Just" suggests the South Korean tech giant may finally be unveiling the Japanese variant of Galaxy S4, the Samsung Galaxy J.

The mysterious smartphone has no launch date, but just comes with a "coming soon" tag. The vague description of the new smartphone does not give any hint of the specifications. Engadget pointed out that the video shows a tiny inscription of a model number SC-02F, which according to the tech blog is of Galaxy J. At the beginning of the video, the device is shown alongside the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, which means the phone will run Android 4.3 or the KitKat. The Gear display was lit up with a December 9 date on it, hinting at a possible launch or a detailed announcement at the least.

The phone features a big 5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display and is powered by the latest 2.26GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset. The smartphone will also boast 3GB RAM, 13.2-megapixel rear camera, 2.1-megapixel on the front and a 2,600 mAh battery, according to Engadget. The Galaxy J will include 32GB internal storage with an ability to expand up to 64GB with the microSD card. The teaser video also confirmed that the smartphone will be 4G LTE compatible for high-speed data connections.

The reports point toward the Galaxy J launch only in Japan, but it is also likely that the device will hit other markets in the future. The teaser video can be seen below.
