Things have been extra crazy for Kanye West over the past few days. Last night, he threw several fans out of his "Yeezus" show for throwing a business card on-stage, Vibe reports, and recently took to Twitter to address rumors that he thinks he's the next Nelson Mandela.
A satirical faux news article from The Daily Currant, in which West was quoted as saying, "I'm the next Nelson Mandela" and "By 95, I'll be a bigger hero than Nelson Mandela," quickly took the Internet by storm. Even though the quote and similar ones were fake, West, known for his off-beat rants and controversial commentary, received plenty of backlash nonetheless, as many were quick to believe he would say such a thing after the death of the former South African president.
"Respect to Mandela, his family and his legacy," West tweeted earlier today in response. "Despite recent media reports, I've never said anything to dishonor or trivialize the life or transition of one of the most inspiring leaders. I'd like to address the false stories and noise that have been engineered by the media. At a young age my mother taught me the importance of his work. Mandela sacrificed his life for the betterment of mankind."
Most recently, the rapper had one of his own fans kicked out of his concert in Tacoma, Wash. for tossing their business cards at him.
"These cubes goin' 20 feet in the air, fam. We risking our lives up here. You can't be throwing s**t that we gon slip on," he said before telling his security to escort the hecklers out of the building, yelling, "Don't heckle me!"
