Jordyn Woods Talks Being A Plus-Size Model And Kylie Jenner's Best Friend

There's a lot more to Jordyn Woods than just being Kylie Jenner's best friend, and she wants the world to know that.

If you follow Jenner on social media, than you definitely know who Woods is, but this young model is here to prove that she would still be making a name for herself without the famous friend. Of course, being with one of the most talked about reality stars of all the time has it perks, but Woods doesn't think that her life is that different from anyone else's.

"I like to think that my life's pretty normal, but I guess according to other people, it's not," the 18-year-old model said. "But that lifestyle is pretty normal for me. I wouldn't say I'm famous or that I'm known for anything really, except for being around people who are; that's awesome, but it also puts me in a weird position, because I never want to just be known as someone's friend. I want to have my own lane and do my own things. I wouldn't change anything [about my life] for the world, but I do think it's my time to just do me and not live in someone's shadow. I don't necessarily want to be in the spotlight, I just want to be successful in whatever it is I decide to do."

Woods signed with modeling agency Wilhelmina in November, and with body-positivity being such a major deal in the industry right now, she has been looking for ways to use her voice and image as a way to "help people and get a message across" while "spreading positivity."

"I feel like [my] generation is all about redefining boundaries and beauty," she explained. "We live in a time where we're finally all free; we have social media, where we can express whatever we want. I didn't realize how much of an impact in this industry being a curve model would make until I got old enough to realize that society has such standards about what 'beautiful' is, and what you have to look like in order to model or be an actress, or do anything, really."

With major stars like Ashley Graham and Iskra Lawrence and campaigns like #AerieReal making huge statements in the fashion world right now, Woods is excited to be able to be a part of it all.

"It's so awesome that now, it's almost cool to be a curve model, that the industry is having a plus-size moment," she added. "Because what you realize is that most people today aren't a size zero and we've got to a point where everyone wants to see what's real. Realness is coolness...The fact that I can be considered a model and not be a size zero is awesome. I even get comments on my Instagram saying things like, 'If she can be a model, I can be a model'-and that's true."

Woods spoke in December about how she plans to change the industry. "There's so many people out there just like me, and right now the curve industry is just blowing up because people are realizing curve models are cool, and most people are not that skinny," she said at the time. "I just want to make a change in the curve industry because I want other curve girls to realize that you don't have to dress a certain way because you are curvy. There's not a lot of clothes out there for girls that are bigger, there's not a lot of trendy things out there, and I want to change the way people look at the plus size industry. I think it's awesome that it's finally taking off, and I hope to be a huge part of the reason why everyone feels unity and feels oneness."
