A former actress from Texas admitted on Tuesday that she'd mailed letters laced with ricin to President Barack Obama and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
The guilty plea was part of a bargain that, according to attorney Tonda Curry, will limit Shannon Guess Richardson's jail time to 18 years.
Richardson went before a federal court in Texarkana, Texas on Tuesday, where she pleaded guilty to federal charges of possessing and producing a biological toxin, the Associated Press reported.
Curry told AP that Richardson was prepared to fess up to sending letters to the POTUS, Mayor Bloomberg and the leader of Bloomberg's gun control group in November.
According to court documents filed after Richardson was arrested in June, the woman known for her role in "The Walking Dead" previously tried to peg her ex-husband Nathan Richardson as the culprit. She reportedly called law enforcement officials to report that Nathan sent letters containing the poison powder, but later failed a lie detector test and gave authorities accounts that didn't match up.
The letter to the president read, "What's in this letter is nothing compared to what ive got in store for you mr president," according to the federal indictment obtained by AP.
Ricin is an extremely toxic powder that is poisonous if inhaled, ingested or injected.
