Priscilla Salas of Windham, Conn. was shocked to find a razor blade in her croissant from Dunkin' Donuts last week, having cut her mouth while biting into the pastry she orders every morning, WVIT NBC Connecticut reports.
Salas told the local station that she was "floored" to find that some of the metal in the croissant was a quarter-inch long. She didn't initially realize she was eating it until she almost swallowed the blade and hurt her tongue. After calling the police and Dunkin' Donuts's corporate office, she was told by the company that it may have been from a box cutter.
"They felt It was probably a frozen croissant from distribution center and they were going to find the exact location of it," she said, while the company told WVIT NBC Connecticut that they are "very concerned" and working to find the source of the razor blade. They have since sent Sallas a gift card as an apology, though she says that she is worried about the same thing happening to others and isn't interested in the company's money.
"I just think that it's a public hazard...I just want the public to know and to be aware what they buy andlook over everything they eat," Salas told the news station. Despite cutting her tongue on the blade of the metal, Salas has not sustained any injuries and is now doing fine.
