Google announced the special edition of the Sony Xperia Z phablet for its United States customers.
The technical specifications for the Sony Xperia Z Ultra (Google version) as available on the Play Store website are more or less the same as the original version, released a few months ago. The Sony Xperia Z features a metallic frame that carries tempered glass on both sides.
Sony Xperia Z Ultra Google edition sports a 6.4 inches display and runs on a Snapdragon 800 chipset. Sony Xperia Z Ultra leaves a benchmark for being the first phablet to carry the 800 Snapdragon processor. The phablet features a screen resolution of 1080 X 1920 pixels and supports a regular pencil or a pen as a capacitive stylus.
The product runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and comes with 2GB RAM. The phablet boasts 16GB internal memory and also provides an option for an external SD card.
The rear camera on Xperia Z Ultra is of 8 megapixels with Exmor0RS sensor and also features a 2 mega pixel front camera that supports video calling. Unfortunately, the LED Flash is missing this time too on the phablet. The device gives a decent battery life with a 3000mAh battery and appears to be a bit heavier weighing around 212 grams.
The stylish device is about 6.55 mm in thickness and water and dust resistant that comes with the IP55 and IP58 certification. The device can be submerged 1.50 meters beneath water for around 30 minutes, according to a recent post on Gizbot.
Xperia Z Ultra includes a lot of connectivity options like Micro USB, NFC (Android Beam), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and LTE support from AT&T and T-Mobile, reports SlashGear. The Sony device is priced at $649. Alongside the Ultra phablet from Sony an LG tablet G Pad 8.3 is also available on Google costing $349.99.
