Just months after giving birth to her daughter, North West, Kim Kardashian shed a whopping 50 pounds of baby weight and recently graced the cover of Us Weekly in a white string bikini, flaunting her svelte new figure. Now E! News reports on the secrets to the reality star's success.
In addition to working out harder than ever, Kardashian attributes her dramatic weight loss to the protein-rich Atkins diet, which encourages dieters to partake in fish, poultry and lean meats, as well as healthy fats found in avacados, nuts and olive oil as well as plenty of fruits and vegetables. Colette Heimowitz, Vice President of Nutrition at the Atkins Diet, told E! News that on the diet, Kardashian eats between 1,800 and 2,000 calories per day with small meals in between.
"Kim feels confident again," a source recently told Us Weekly. "She worked really hard and is so motivated to stay fit."
Back in October, the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star shared how hurtful it was to be constantly criticized for her weight while pregnant, as she had been on the receiving end of some harsh scrutiny.
"Every day I would hear people criticize me, and it would affect me," Kardashian said to People magazine. "Little by little, it would chip away at my soul. I wanted to tune out the media and my public life and ignore it all."
Kardashian also fell victim to rumors that she had gotten surgery to assist with her weight loss, and took to Twitter to rant about it.
"I am very frustrated today seeing reports that I got surgery to lose my baby weight! This is FALSE," she tweeted. "I worked so hard to train myself to eat right & healthy, I worked out so hard & this was such a challenge for me but I did it!!! I'm so proud of my accomplishment & NO ONE will take this away from me with fake reports! Say what u want about me but I work hard & am the most disciplined person u will ever meet!"
