The feud between late rappers Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur may not be over. The two hip hop icons waged an infamous "coastal beef" while they were both alive, and interest in the two rap legends has only increased with the advent of holograms in recent years.
Tupac received his own hologram so that he could "perform" with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre at 2012's Coachella Live. Now, B.I.G. may be getting one as well.
Smalls, born Christopher Wallace, was murdered in a still-unsolved shooting back in 1997. However, the rapper's widow, singer Faith Evans, recently revealed that he could be making his digital comeback.
"We actually are in development with a hologram, but I don't necessarily know to what extent I'm gonna perform with it. But I want to debut it in the first video for the album and maybe use it a little bit performing live," Evans said.
Fans are hoping such a feat could be achieved soon, as Bad Boy Records founder Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs plans to reunite some of the label's most famous artists for a concert at Brooklyn's Barclays Arena on May 20, which would have been Smalls' 44th birthday.
A spokesperson for Hologram USA, which created the hologram of Tupac and other deceased entertainers such as Whitney Houston, said that the company "has been in talks with repreentatives of Biggie Smalls, but we're unable to announce plans at this time."
Tickets for the Bad Boy reunion show will be made available starting this Saturday at 11 am. Performers include Evans, Mase, Lil Kim, the Lox, Total, 112 and will feature appearances from Jay Z and Mary J. Blige.
If B.I.G. does indeed receive the hologram treatment, it will likely reignite the debate as to who was the better rapper: Tupac or Biggie?
