Amazon Expands Popular Dash Button Product Line-Up; Service Showing Encouraging Figures

Amazon's Dash Buttons - the company's portable, Wi-Fi-connected, single-press wonders - are set to receive a massive expansion, as the e-commerce giant announced on Thursday that it is expanding the lineup for the products supported by its simple and extremely convenient technology.

Introduced last year, Dash Buttons were initially thought of by a number of consumers as an April Fool's joke by the company. After all, Dash Buttons, which allow customers to place an order for a specific item in the e-commerce giant's massive online store, seemed a little bit of a hard sell. Indeed, with the devices designed to order one product only, the whole idea behind the buttons seemed a little bit unsound.

As it turned out, Amazon was dead serious about the Dash Buttons. During Thursday's announcement, the e-commerce firm stated that more than 100 brands would soon be supported by the simple yet intuitive devices. From their initial lineup of 30 brands, a list of 100 products is indeed a very notable improvement.

Some of the additions include Energizer batteries, Stayfree feminine pads and Zico Premium Coconut Water. Even Red Bull, Redenbacher's Gourmet Popping Corn, and Arm & Hammer cat litter would soon have their own dedicated Dash Buttons have well.

According to Dash at Amazon director Daniel Rausch, the expansion was motivated by mutual interest among users and brands.

"We're thrilled with the positive response we've seen for Dash Buttons, and we heard loud and clear from customers that they wanted more brands, more categories, and more products in the program," he said. "We're excited to now offer over 100 Dash Buttons representing top-name brands across dozens of retail categories and thousands of product options."

Rausch further stated that over the past year, the Dash Buttons have become extremely popular, with orders from the devices coming in at least once every minute from Amazon customers across the globe.

Amazon sells Dash Buttons for a measly $4.99. The little device is practically free, though, since the e-commerce giant immediately grants a Dash customer a credit of $4.99 after purchasing the device. Thus, customers purchasing a Dash Button immediately get their money back after buying the device.

Amazon Dash Buttons definitely make the shopping and ordering a lot easier for consumer, but with chips, detergent, garbage bags, tissue papers and even condoms being part of the program's lineup, the time might come when clicking on a website, browsing through an online store and purchasing items would be considered as an inconvenience.
