Walmart is slashing its prices for the iPhone 5C this holiday season.
According to NBC News, Apple's colored smartphone will be available for $27 with a two-year contract from Verizon or AT&T starting on Friday, Dec. 13. The holiday promotion will end on Dec. 24.
The promotion might be due to the iPhone 5C's sales aren't exceeding Apple's expecations. Reuters reported in October the tech company slashed its production of the smartphones after speculation that the "cheaper" version of the iPhone me have been priced "to high."
"Pegatron Corp, which assembles many of Apple's iPhone 5Cs, had seen orders reduced by less than 20 percent, said the source, who asked not to be identified because the information is sensitive," Reuters reports.
The iPhone 5C prices could dip lower in 2014, since Apple tends to sell their older models at cheaper prices to sell their inventory.
"We're not especially concerned with 5C order cuts at this point because they appear to be offset by strong demand and increased production for the 5S," Brian Colello, analyst with Morningstar told Reuters. "As far as emerging markets, the 5C is simply not cheap enough to gain traction with customers that can buy $150 Android devices."
This is the second promotion Walmart has run with the iPhone 5C, as it previously discounted the phone at $45.
Other retail giants have offered promotions for the iPhone 5C before Walmart. According to NBC News, Best Buy was selling the phone for $50 during a limited time promotion. Walmart had also previously discounted the phone down to $45.
Walmart is also offering a limited time promotion on their iPhone 5S during this holiday season. The phone is marked down to $127 with a two-year contract. The iPhone 5S promotion is running during the same time as Walmart's iPhone 5C deal.
