Hrithik Roshan Apologies For 'Affair With Pope' Remark [TWEETS]

Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan has issued a public apology over his recent anti-Pope tweet. The "Bang Bang" actor said Saturday that his remark on His Holiness was misunderstood, adding that the comment was unintentional.

"Seems my tweet about His Holiness has led 2misunderstanding. My apologies 4 hurt caused 2religious or other sentiments. Was unintentional," Roshan tweeted.

The 42-year-old actor's apology came days after a Christian activist slapped a legal notice on him for "hurting religious sentiments" by making a reference to the Pope in a tweet aimed at his alleged ex girlfriend and actress Kangana Ranaut.

"Hrithik Roshan has hurt the religious sentiments, feelings and beliefs of Christians (Roman Catholics) all over the world which includes my client as well. My client wants a written public apology from Hrithik Roshan within 7 days," the legal notice sent by former vice chairman of Maharashtra Minority Commission Abraham Mathai said. "Thus malafidely, mischievously and intentionally outraged the religious feelings and insulted the religious beliefs of Romans Catholics all over the world who consider the Pope to be absolutely chaste as their spiritual and religious leader."

Hrithik and Kangana have been engaged in a bitter legal fight for the last few months. The fued began when the "Queen" actress referred to Hrithik as "silly ex" in an interview early this year. It has since become messy, with the two of them slapping each other with legal notices and throwing accusations of defamation, mental illness and blackmail.

"Ther r more chances of me having had an affair with d Pope dan any of d (Im sure wonderful) women d media hs ben naming (sic)," Hrithik said in a tweet directed to Ranaut in January.

The "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" actress responded to Hrithik's "affair with Pope" tweet by saying that the actor should stick to his stand. "I respect the other person's opinion. It's very likely that a person can have a different perspective of the same situation or rather the past. But then, stick to your stand. Don't contradict yourself and slyly pursue people, spy on them and chase them. So, we sign and seal the deal, and then move on."
