When Lamar Odom was hospitalized following a near fatal overdose in October, his estranged wife Khloé Kardashian called off the divorce for the time being so she could take care of him. Now that Odom is out of the hospital and doing so much better, Kardashian would like to go through with the divorce as they originally planned.
Since the former NBA star was spotted drinking at a bar during Easter weekend, Kardashian is apparently concerned that if she decides to divorce him and move on, he could fall back to his old routines. She reportedly already tried to pursue him to go to rehab following the scary overdose, but he refuses.
Sources close to Kardashian have said that since Odom is drinking again, she's afraid what could happen if she's not by his side and keeps trying to get him to agree to get treatment for his addiction. She also feels "a tremendous amount of guilt" over finalizing the divorce because she does not know how he will react.
After Odom was seen drinking again last month, sources from the hospital who were familiar with his treatment warned him against the consumption of alcohol.
"Lamar needs to focus on staying healthy. He should not be consuming any alcohol," the hospital source said. "In Lamar's case, as someone who only a few months ago had several life threatening health issues, including kidney failure, he needs to live clean. The trauma to his body after the drug overdose was devastating. Alcohol can cause more damage."
Kardashian also cancelled the taping for her hit show "Kocktails with Khloé" last week as Odom's drinking began to take a toll on her. Even though she told production she was sick, sources said that she's stressed and worried about him and that she needed to take a break.
Odom's recovery is nothing short of a miracle as doctors did not believe he was going to survive, and there's only so much Kardashian can do at this point to help him. She has been "fully supporting" him financially, but she's unable to control his decisions.
"She is very worried, but Lamar refuses to listen to her," another insider said. "He acutally said, 'Nothing will happen to me. Look at how I survived the last one.'"
