Jimmy Fallon did not stand a chance Monday night when he invited Melissa McCarthy to go up against him in one of "The Tonight Show's" Lip Sync Battles. McCarthy and Fallon both brought out their best for their two songs, but McCarthy came to play complete with a bevy of props and theatrics.
"I don't get nervous a lot, I'm pretty freaked out about crushing you," McCarthy told Fallon right before the competition kicked off.
The battle started off well for Fallon who opened the Lip Sync Battle with Melanie's 1971 hit "Brand New Key," which is also known as "The Rollerskate Song." For full effect, the late night host even pretended to be wearing a pair of skates as he was lip-synching the song.
While Fallon's first performance was impressive, McCarthy proved that she was taking the challenge seriously and responded by throwing the mic stand at Fallon for a rendition of DMX's "X Gon' Give It To Ya." The actress' performance of the song was complete with a black baseball cap and some fierce dance moves. However, both competitors were just getting started.
For his second performance, Fallon decided to go a little more modern and chose Zayn's "Pillowtalk," complete with an actual pillow. The former "Saturday Night Live" star rolled around on the floor and serenaded the pillow as the McCarthy and The Roots laughed along. After Fallon's hilarious performance of the former One Direction star's song, McCarthy admitted she was nervous to perform her second song, but in the end, she had nothing to be nervous about.
For her finale, McCarthy performed "Colors of the Wind" from the Disney film "Pocahontas." Wearing a pair of safety goggles, she launched into her version of the song, complete with a forest background and a wind machine. As the song continued, tons of different props were propelled at the actress, including leaves, water, fake birds and feathers. After a huge plush wolf was launched at her face, a storm of colorful glitter fell on her for the ending.
As McCarthy gave her lip-synch everything she had, Fallon looked upon dumbfounded while The Roots stared in amazement at McCarthy.
