Motorola is nearing the end of its the roll-outs of Android KitKat for its Moto X smartphone on all national carriers including Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and finally Sprint and US Cellular, starting Thursday.
Motorola is in the last leg of rolling out the latest Android KitKat update for its flagship Moto X smartphone. Google has completed the roll-out of updates for its entire Nexus lineup. It released KitKat 4.4.1 and 4.4.2, earlier this week. Motorola is completing the last phase of its KitKat 4.4 roll-out in the U.S.
The KitKat update for Moto X smartphone was first rolled out to Verizon subscribers last month, followed by T-Mobile and AT&T. The Google-owned smartphone maker announced Thursday that Sprint and US Cellular versions of Moto X smartphones are now getting the latest update.
"Our software team has been hard at work bringing the latest version of Android to our Moto X users more quickly than ever," said Steve Horowitz, SVP Software Engineering at Motorola, in a company's blog post. "When it came to KitKat, we couldn't wait to deliver. Our software strategy is to build on a pure Android foundation and complement existing Google services, not compete with them. We think this latest release is just that-all the features you love about your Moto X with the latest Android OS."
With the latest upgrade, Moto X on Sprint and US Cellular gets a tweaked OS, says the release. The camera, gallery, touchless controls among other features are greatly improved with the Android 4.4. Moto X on both carriers gets tweaked notification bars, new full-screen mode, colored Emoji, efficient power management, enhanced security, improved camera with new "touch to focus" in a circular menu and lot more.
Since the update is currently being rolled out, users will get the update notification on their Moto X phones in the next few days. Users can also manually check for updates accessing "About Phone" under "Settings" menu and selecting "System Updates."
