It has been a pretty long wait for "Gears of War" fans, but finally, concrete details about the much-hyped, upcoming "Gears of War 4" title have emerged. The highly-anticipated follow-up to the hit "Gears of War 3" game is coming, and as far as the released information is concerned, it looks like this is yet another game that will be a great help to the Xbox One console.
In a recent announcement in Los Angeles, Microsoft revealed the upcoming release of two titles this year. The first game is the long-rumored "Gears of War Ultimate Edition," which is essentially an HD remaster of the classic first game. The second, of course, is "Gears of War 4."
So far, a number of details about the fourth installment in the popular franchise are certain, including the exact release date, the console that supports it and the game's storyline.
"Gears of War 4" is set to hit stores across the world on October 11, 2016, according to a recent announcement from both Microsoft and The Coalition. The game would be released, just like its predecessors, as an exclusive title for the Xbox One.
Speculations are pretty high, however, that the game would also be released for the PC. Considering Microsoft's current trend of exporting Xbox One titles to the PC, such a decision would largely be unsurprising. Plus, the developers have done it before, releasing "Gears of War Ultimate Edition" for the PC last year.
The title would definitely never be released for the PS4. Thus, October might very well be the month when PS4 users would end up looking at Xbox One owners with envy.
Players with the "Ultimate Edition" and Xbox Live Gold members would also enjoy the game's Beta, which is set to be opened exclusively on April 18. Without the "Ultimate Edition" and a membership to the Xbox Live Gold program, players would need to wait for April 25 for the open-world beta.
Though the actual intricacies of the story are pretty scarce right now, the developers have confirmed that the game's story would take place on Sera over a 24-hour period. "Gears of War 4" would feature JD Fenix as one of the protagonists, who is the son of the previous games' protagonist, Marcus Fenix. JD is joined by Kait Diaz and Delmont "Del" Walker.
The game is set to be on sale for $60 regular price. Discounts await Amazon Prime members, who could get the game for $48, and Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked getting 20 percent off the game's price.
