Colorado Rockies Rookie Trevor Story Sets MLB Record; Jose Reyes Becoming Afterthought [VIDEOS]

Everyone knew Trevor Story was one of the top MLB prospects, but nobody expected the Colorado Rockies rookie to set a record just three games into the 2016 season.

Today, the 23-year-old became the first player in MLB history to hit a home run in each of his first three career games. Not only that, he hit those home runs off Zack Greinke, Shelby Miller and Patrick Corbin - all of whom are among the best pitchers in the National League.

Here's his record-setting blast:

And here are all four of his home runs over the past three days:

Story made his MLB debut with the Rockies to start the season because incumbent shortstop Jose Reyes was placed on administrative leave due to his alleged involvement in a domestic dispute back in October. The veteran was charged with domestic violence and pleaded not guilty. He was expected to stand trial April 4, but it was reported that the pending charges against him were expected to be dropped because his wife, who was the alleged victim, was failing to cooperate with prosecutors.

Still, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred is expected to suspend Reyes, which will leave the door open for Story to get more playing time. Based on the way he's begun his MLB career, it's likely he remains the Rockies' starting shortstop, which could force the club to find another role for Reyes, or perhaps a explore a trade (although that's merely speculation at this point).

Story's first four hits at the MLB level were home runs. He hit two off Greinke Monday, one off Miller Tuesday and another off Corbin this afternoon. Entering today, he was 3-for-10 with three runs scored, three home runs and five RBIs. He's now 4-for-14 with four runs scored, four home runs and seven RBIs.

The future looks bright for Story as he's already produced 20 percent of his home run production from last season in the minor leagues.
