Although the Warriors' defense is a work-in-progress, there's no denying the impact on offense from guard Stephen Curry. He leads the team in both points (24.1) and assists (9.0) per game. He finished with 33 points and the game-winning basket on Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks.

"He's a great player and an all-time great shooter," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said, via ESPN. "I've seen Steph Curry every single day take that shot hundreds and hundreds of times, thousands of times, so when the curtains open up you expect it to go in."

Curry is averaging more than 30 points per game through his last eight games, making a strong case he deserves to be mentioned as one of the top three point guards in the league.

"He's been playing at a whole different level," Jackson said earlier in the week. "He's playing and acting like he's the best player on the floor night in and night out, carrying us down the stretch, making plays, choosing when to take over offensively and he knows when to facilitate."

Houston, meanwhile, have lost three of their last five games and are looking to bounce back from Thursday's 111-104 loss to Portland. James Harden leads the team in scoring with 24.6 points per game, and Dwight Howard leads with 13.4 rebounds per game while adding 17.6 points per game.

The status of Omer Asik, who's expected to be traded sometime next week, is uncertain for Friday; the 7-footer continues to nurse a bruised right thigh, according to ESPN.
