After former Archbishop Desmond Tutu said he would not attend South African leader Nelson Mandela's funeral on Sunday, it now appears the Nobel laureate will be at the event.
Tutu first stated his intention to skip the funeral after he was reportedly omitted from the guest list by officials in government, according to Time.
Tutu's foundation, along the South African head of Public Diplomacy Clayson Monyela, posted tweets confirming the 82-year-old's attendance.
"Archbishop Desmond Tutu will now attend the funeral," Monyela wrote. "All forgiven. His spokesperson has confirmed."
Tutu canceled plans to go to Mandela's funeral Saturday morning, after he said he didn't receive an invitation.
"Much as I would have loved to attend the service to say a final farewell to someone I loved and treasured, it would have been disrespectful to Tata [Mandela] to gatecrash what was billed as a private family funeral," according to a statement written by Tutu and obtained by the Associated Press. "Had I or my office been informed that I would be welcome there is no way on earth I would have missed it."
Earlier whispers that Tutu, who often calls into question the actions and decisions of South African President Jacob Zuman, had been left off the list because of a conflict of interests, were dashed by government officials.
