While we "Game of Thrones" fans will have to wait until Spring 2014 for the premiere of season 4, HBO recently teased us with some new promo footage for the upcoming season, as it's about that time of year for new trailers and promos.
And while the new promo for "Game of Thrones" is only six seconds of Tyrion looking angry, a clean-shaven Jaime, Joffrey at his wedding, Sansa somewhere that is definitely not King's Landing, and a potentially new character that fans speculate may either be someone from Daenerys' storyline or perhaps Oberyn Martell (who makes his appearance his season), it's enough to get "Thrones" fans pretty pumped.
This coming season, fans can expect more blood, more death and more shocks and surprises than ever before. Neil Marshall, who directed season 2's penultimate episode "Blackwater," was back to direct episode 9 of season 4, which he described as a "huge episode" with plenty of "stunts, effects gags and visual effects," with approximately 200 extras used for the massive sequences that involve three different battles going on at once, as he told IFTN.
Filming for season 4 concluded in November, having lasted a whopping 136 days across three countries: Iceland, Croatia and Northern Ireland. The new season will include a follow-up to season 3's shocking Red Wedding, something that the fans refer to as the Purple Wedding. A word of warning to those who haven't read the source material, "A Song of Ice and Fire" series: no one is safe.
New footage from season 4 of "Game of Thrones" begins at the 1:37 mark
