Boston Marathon Bombing Victim, James Costello, Proposes To Nurse Who Took Care Of Him

One of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings announced his engagement to the nurse who helped him recover, Newsy.com reported.

James "Bim" Costello, 31, was one of the hundreds of victims who sustained injuries following the attack in April, dealing with burns so bad that he required pig skin grafts on his right arm and leg after standing near the finish line with friends.

After spending two weeks in a general hospital, he was transported to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital where he met a nurse named Krista D'Agostino.

"April 15 was one of the worst days of my life," Costello wrote in a Facebook post. "I soon wondered why and for what reason this had happened. A few days later I saw a nurse in passing, this would turn out to be Krista, who had shared a few mutual friends, but we had never crossed paths before. After sharing a handful of conversations I realized not only how beautiful she was but also what a kind heart she had. I somehow convinced her to attend a benefit with me, which turned into a few dates, which turned into a few inseparable months."

Costello and D'Agostino are currently spending part of the month in Europe on an all-expenses-paid trip dedicated to victims of the marathon boming called the "Heroes Cruise," created by Vantage Deluxe World Travel. While they were in Lyon, France, Costello proposed.

"I'm happy to announce that we will spend the rest of our lives together. I now realized why I was involved in the tragedy. It was to meet my best friend, and the love of my life."

While Costello and D'Agostino's bond is certainly unique, the relationships between caretakers and victims became common as people affected by the marathon attack healed.
