Ariana Grande Admits She 'Never Liked Acting,' Only Signed Onto 'Victorious' to Get a Record Deal

"Sam & Cat" star Ariana Grande recently revealed that she has no plans to further pursue acting after her hit Nickelodeon show is finished, as the 20-year-old singer admitted that she only signed on for the "Victorious" spin-off to help land her a record deal, EntertainmentWise reports.

"I never liked acting. I auditioned for TV just to get a platform to get a record deal and then I fell in love with acting because it was fun," Grande said during an interview with Complex magazine. "After I'm done playing Cat Valentine I don't see myself doing much acting, but I would do a scary movie or a musical."

Her Nickelodeon role certainly helped catapult her to fame, and in September after plenty of delays, leaked singles and changes to its musical and creative style, Grande released her R&B-tinged, Mariah Carey-infused debut album, "Yours Truly." The album's lead single, "The Way (feat. Mac Miller)," made her the 15th female solo artist to score a No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with their first album, and its success helped Grande snag the Best New Artist award at the 2013 American Music Awards.

As for her future projects, Grande (who is currently dating a fellow musician, The Wanted singer Nathan Skyes), has been performing at several Jingle Ball events, having just released her first holiday-themed EP, "Christmas Kisses," and plans to focus solely on her music career when "Sam & Cat" ends.
