With Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas out, the clubs' reins fall to Tim Sherwood. The interim manager will have to pull together a squad which supported Villas-Boas, who was fired on Monday after the Hotspurs' 5-0 loss to Liverpool.
"I think all the players in the changing room really wanted things to work out for Andre," Brad Friedel said on Fox Soccer Daily, via Sky Sports. "From day one that he came to the club, (he had an) open door policy, very good communication with the players. None of us were happy to see him go.
"We still have to continue to have a very good team spirit, which I know we will. We have a lot of quality in the changing room."
Tottenham is ranked No. 7 in the Premier League with a 8-3-5 record. Sherwood is tasked with designing a game plan to help Tottenham avenge their 3-0 loss in October to West Hammer in the Premier League, something Sherwood admitted is difficult with the flux at manager.
"When you lose your manager it's a change and you've got to listen to a different voice, but I'm hoping to get a few messages across in a short space of time so we can get a positive result against West Ham," Sherwood told Spurs TV, via IB Times. "It's a huge game, especially on the back of what they did to us at the Lane. It was disappointing"
West Ham (3-5-8) is ranked No. 17 in the Premier League and is coming off a 0-0 draw on Saturday against Sunderland.
