Notoriously private couple Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have been keeping a big secret for more than one week: the couple are now the parents of two children!
Mendes secretly gave birth to daughter Amada Lee Gosling April 29 at 8:03 a.m. at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, Calif.
Hardly anyone even knew the couple was expecting a second tot. In fact, news that the Cuban-American beauty was pregnant only became public in mid-April, leaving many to think that the baby would not arrive for another couple of months - especially since the size of her belly could not be gauged because recent photographs of the star showed her covering her bump region with bags and coats.
Amada joins 20-month-old big sister Esmeralda in the Mendes-Gosling household.
The name Amada is one that Mendes is quite fond of - and one that she quite frequently uses. “Amada was my grandmother’s name - it means ‘beloved’ in Spanish,” Mendes explained in 2014 after giving baby Esmeralda that middle name.
She also had her character’s name in the 2007 film “We Own the Night” changed to Amada to honor her late grandmother, whom she never actually met. “I have a feeling that I am so like her, I feel like we’re connected,” she said.
Gosling, 35, and Mendes, 42, began dating in 2011 while filming the movie “The Place Beyond the Pines.” The actor recently said that the only quality he looks for in a woman is “that she’s Eva Mendes.”
“I know that I’m with the person I’m supposed to be with,” Canadian cutie Gosling gushed. “There’s nothing else I’m looking for.”
Don’t expect to see any photos of the newborn anytime soon, as fans have yet to see a picture of Esmeralda.
Gosling’s new flick, “The Nice Guys,” comes out May 20. Mendes is scheduled to soon start filming “Fast 8,” reprising her role of Monica Fuentes from “2 Fast 2 Furious.” The movie is slated to come out in April 2017.
