Gay Sikh's Kissing Photo Blocked On Facebook? (IMAGES)

A gay Sikh man was reportedly blocked out of Facebook temporarily after posting a picture of him kissing another man, NDTV reported.

Kanwar Anit Singh Saini, 32, was protesting against the Indian Supreme Court order restoring a ban on gay sex when the incident happened. Saini's photograph went viral within moments after it was posted on his Facebook page to protest against the Indian law banning gay sex - known as Section 377, according to NDTV.

More than 30 cities across the world had activists who had gathered on Sunday for a protest called the "Global Day of Rage". His photo received over 1,000 likes and 80 shares, along with some vitriolic comments.

According to NDTV, Saini alleges he received a message from Facebook on Monday saying his account had been suspended for 12 hours and his photo had been removed because it violated their terms and policies. Facebook said that the photo was "mistakenly removed," Buzzfeed reported.

Saini hit back at Facebook's screening policy by shifting the same photograph to Twitter (@sikhknowledge), Instagram and Tumblr.

Saini is a speech-language pathologist and a disc jockey in Toronto.

"The small community I come from is a challenging one, but on the other hand, normative society is also a toughie for a queer person of color, so I'm screwed and not in the good way," he said. "I have supporters who see the art and person behind what I do. I get threats to my life and hate speech regularly."

Buzzfeed reported Saini was angry about the photo being deleted because his posts "tease out important questions I want people to ask. So, the thread was people going back and forth with hate/rebuttals/logical rebuttals/dumb rebuttals...so important to our time in history."

There have been protests not only in India, but across the world against the Supreme Court's ruling last week, which threw out another court's decision four years ago to scrap a 19th century ban on gay sex.
