Wednesday is another showcase of two teams who appear likely to meet in the late rounds of the 2014 NBA playoffs. Indiana (20-4) has the best record in the Eastern Conference and is expected to be vying with Miami (18-6) for the East's No. 1 seed in the postseason.
Pacers forward Paul George has taken his game to another level this season and is making a strong case to be considered an NBA superstar. George leads Indiana with 23.8 points per game while shooting 40.9 percent from three-point range. Despite George's outside touch throughout the season, he struggled in the Pacers' 101-96 loss to Detroit on Monday.
"A loss like this brings us back to reality," George said, via ESPN. "We can't turn it on, we can't have a switch when we want to. Teams are getting up and getting ready to play us, so we have to match that energy and prepare like they're the team to beat."
Miami, meanwhile, has revenge on their mind after being handed a 90-84 loss by the Pacers on Dec. 10. The Heat didn't have an answer for Pacers center Roy Hibbert, who dominated the paint with his size.
Having LeBron James available on Wednesday will be critical for Miami to win. James suffered a sprained left ankle on Monday during the Heat's 117-94 win over Utah but managed to finish the game, according to ESPN. His status for Wednesday is uncertain.
"I'm day to day, and we'll see what happens," said James. "I didn't step on nobody's foot, my ankle just turned. So it's frustrating."
