Microsoft Withdraws Surface Pro 2 Update Plagued With Installation Errors

Microsoft released an update for Surface Pro on Dec. 10 but it has been removed by the company Thursday, with many of the users failing to install the update.

Microsoft offered the latest update to ensure the best experience for its users during the Holidays but the faulty update forced the Redmond-based tech giant to suspend it until a fresh one is launched by next year.

"To ensure the best experience for our customers during the holiday season, we have taken steps to remove the update for Surface Pro 2 that was previously published through Windows Update on December 10, 2013," said Microsoft in a recent post on the Support page. "We are working to release an alternative update package after the holidays."

The latest update on Surface Pro was aimed at resolving many issues reported by users earlier like- improving the system's stability especially when minimizing full screen games, providing an updated WiFi driver, improving the Surface Cover interaction, optimizing the two-finger trackpad and enhancing color fidelity for applications and much more.

While the Surface Pro users were trying to install the update they faced an error message, 80070490, on the tablet. Microsoft suggested that the users recheck the Device Manager to confirm if the update was properly installed. If not, to immediately report the issue on the Microsoft support page, reports Winbeta.

The problem is graver for the people who have somehow managed to install the update. The battery life is draining out even faster than before, and not even charging 100 percent for a few. The other grievances include booting and hardware problems, according to CNet.

However, Microsoft has not commented on the post-installation problems. Hopefully, we will get to see a patch with the alternative package next year.
