Surveillance footage shows the brave attempt of a group of Seattle bus passengers tackling an armed robber who pointed a gun at a victim's head, the New York Daily News reported.
Trevonnte Brown, 19, had just robbed Chris Briggs and one other man of their cell phones as he attempted to rob a third person on Nov. 25. As he tried to attack a third victim, Briggs lunged at Brown and tried to grab his weapon.
"He jabbed me a little harder, and said, 'Don't make this any harder than it has to be,'" Briggs said as he tried to initially defend himself.
Though several passengers tried to flee the frightening scene, Briggs and a few other passengers jumped at the robber and tackled him until police arrived.
"Me and a couple of other guys all just kind of jumped at the same time to kind of tackle him," Briggs said to KOMO TV. "People were kind of committed at that point."
"It was kind of just one of those things that no one gave any thought to once things started happening."
Brown, who has no criminal history and just graduated from high school, was immediately arrested and held on $350,000 bail. No one was injured during the incident.
Prosecutors called him an "extreme danger to the public" and charged him with three counts of robbery and one charge of attempted robbery. He pleaded not guilty and could face 15 years in prison if convicted.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 30 at the King County Courthouse.
