Uber is a company that is known all over the world as an organisation that is dedicated to innovation in order to make the taxi hailing service as comfortable for people as possible and over the years it has brought on plenty of innovations that do exactly that. According to latest reports, the company is now trying to make like even easier for their millions of app users by introducing ride scheduling on a trial basis and it will allow people to book a ride 30 days in advance, however it is also important to note that the customer would not be able to choose the driver of their ride.
Uber announced their intention to roll out this feature on a trial basis in their company blog. It stated, "Since Uber's magic of "push a button and get a ride" launched 6 years ago, people have valued the ability to access rides on-demand through our app. But we've also heard from our riders that sometimes they want to arrange a pickup in advance so they can rest assured that an Uber will be available when they need it, even if it's for a 4AM ride to the airport.
We totally get it, and that's why today we're starting the global roll out of Scheduled Rides. With just a few taps on your app, you can schedule your ride 30 minutes to 30 days in advance and have the comfort of knowing your Uber will be there when it's time to head out."
The blog post went on to specify how the feature is going to work, "How it works:
-Select uberX and tap "Schedule a Ride."
-Set your pickup date, time, location, and destination.
-Confirm the details of your upcoming trip and tap "Schedule uberX." You can cancel at anytime before your ride is on the way.
-We'll send you reminders both 24 hours and 30 minutes in advance of your pickup. You'll be notified after your ride is on the way, as well as whether surge pricing applies.
Since the option to schedule a ride is a top-requested feature from business travelers, we're excited to give priority access to riders who have Business Profiles or are linked to their company's Uber for Business account."
