Seasoned director Michael Bay has been criticized for a number of things over the years. But he contributed much in catapulting Megan Fox, Jack Reynor and Shia LaBeouf into stardom. Lately, Bay is out in the spotlight again for giving Freya, 'Britain's Loneliest Dog' a big movie break by starring in Transformers 5: The Last Knight.
"Found this in the news last week in the UK. We gave the Loneliest Dog, a role in Transformers. Freya, has epilepsy and has been in a shelter her whole 6 year life. We are also going to find her a home. If not she will come to my house. Welcome to the cast Freya! #Transformers," Bay said on his Twitter page.
The director of Bad Boys, Pearl Harbor and Armageddon took pity on her and said that if he can't find poor Freya a new home, she'll end up living with him with two of his bullmastiffs whom he called Bonecrusher and Grace.
The six-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier came to the famed director's attention after the UK publication the Mirror ran an article with the title 'Britain's loneliest dog.' The stray pooch hailed from Liverpool and was taken to an animal shelter at six months. The dog was often passed over for 18, 000 times for years because of her epilepsy despite being 'sweet and friendly.'
"We have had a fantastic response to our appeal for a new home for Freya, with lots of interest shown from around the world as well as closer to home in the UK. We are thrilled at the opportunity of a movie deal for Freya and at such interest and support from a major film director who is also a dedicated animal advocate," a spokesman for Freshfields Animal Rescue Center said as quoted by the Mirror.
Meanwhile, the fifth sequel to one of the most successful movie franchises of all time is still underway. Titled 'The Last Knight,' the next installment will reportedly feature Megatron's re-emergence as villain in the movie with Anthony Hopkins joining the fray in an unspecified role.
Per Movie Web, Michael Bay directed the Transformers franchise raking in almost $4 billion worldwide. Despite criticisms hurled against 'Age of Extinction,' the franchise do not show any signs of slowing down yet as Hollywood observers expect 'The Last Knight' to be another blockbuster hit.
