Although the eighth installment of the highly popular Star Wars franchise is still underway, a number of rumored leaks regarding the sci-fi movie's storyline purportedly reveal the fate of its iconic characters. While many fans are preoccupied about Kylo Ren and Luke Skywalker, latest rumors puts General Leia Organa in the current spotlight.
In 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens,' it was revealed that Leia and Han Solo had a son, Kylo (Ben Solo), who was enticed to join the Dark Side by led Snoke and has since become an ardent disciple of the fallen Sith Lord Darth Vader.
Han Solo is one of the franchise's most prominent characters who successfully established himself as an iconic rogue anti-hero in the early Star Wars saga. At the tail's end of Star Wars 7, Han Solo (Harrison Ford) threw himself in harm's way to get his son off the clutches of the First Order, International Business Times reported. But his last-ditch effort proved futile after Ren (Adam Driver) killed his father in their encounter. If rumors prove accurate, the Episode 8's storyline will reportedly highlight Leia's (Carrie Fisher) emotional struggle following her husband's death at the hands of her own son.
Solo's death in The Force Awakens stunned everyone and caught fans grappling with the fact that the character's role in the movie has finally come to an end following a long journey since the release of the first Star Wars film in the 1977.
"If everybody puts a piece of themselves into Han Solo and Han Solo dies - in the cinema, where it's dark - you can express it, and it alleviates some of the pain," Daisy Ridley (Rey) said as she discussed about the effect of Solo's shocking death, Cinema Blend reported.
The spoiler here is that Solo's unfortunate murder by his own son will drive the plot behind the highly anticipated sequel. If fan-based speculations and theories hold any weight, Leia will reportedly make use of her 'Force' to get her rogue son back after losing her husband.
The rumored storyline surfaced when a user (Mr_Ghostfast_Lives) in IMDB Forums claimed that Leia will use powerful light side of the force in the upcoming sequel. He also revealed that Luke will never be Rey's father despite speculations from fans.
"First of all, Luke is not Rey's father. If you really can't let go of this, watch Episode VII and pay attention. He is not revealed to be her father in Episode VIII, nor will he be in Episode IX. The second and more exciting [rumor] is that Leia uses the force in Episode VIII," Mr_Ghostfast_Lives revealed (via Movie Web).
"It is unfortunately true that they have minimized her screen time by writing her out after an attack early on, but the really cool thing about that sequence is that Leia survives only because she uses the Force."
Despite the media hype, Disney and Star Wars 8 director Rian Johnson are tight-lipped and refused to reveal any plot hints. The movie is slated for a cinematic release on December 15, 2017.
