(VIDEO) Teen with Autism Gets More than 10,000 Cards from Around the World

Hallee Sorenson, the Bangor teen who celebrated her 18th birthday party alone, is now celebrating her 19th birthday with many people around the world.

She has received more than 10,000 cards from many people and strangers after a Massachusetts woman's plea for people to send cards to her autistic cousin.

Hallee's cousin Rebecca Guildford posted a photos to Facebook of Hallee sitting by herself in a bowling alley last year for a birthday party that she said no one joined her birthday party.

Guildford posted on Facebook asking for people to send Sorenson her cards. The post was shared more than 200,000 times and response was way more than she imagined.

“It's absolutely nuts to read the comments to perfect strangers, perfect strangers who want to do something for your kid. How do you say thank you for that” said Allyson Sorenson the mother of Hallee.

"Hal loves getting mail — this would be the best birthday gift she could ask for," Guildford wrote. "This would mean a lot to her mother as well, for as you can imagine, watching your child cry into her birthday cake breaks your heart."

She received messages from countries including Indonesia, Germany and Japan.
