Recent rumors swirling across tech land point to the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note unpacking event sometime in August. Although speculations remain unconfirmed, leaked image of the event invite suggest that product launching of the next generation of Note lineup will happen on August 2 this year.
If rumors prove accurate, the South Korean consumer electronics giant will go head-to-head with Apple's own unveiling of the reported iPhone 7 series sometime in September.
According to Tech Times, Samsung deliberately skipped the entire Note 6 generation in favor of Note 7 rebranding to avoid customer confusion who might associate Note 6 as one generation behind its successful Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge cousins.
For some industry observers, an early August release may actually make "a lot of strategic sense" as it could mean getting the smartphone market all to itself if Apple decides to go ahead with its September unveiling of its upcoming handset flagship.
"This Galaxy Note is going to be in direct competition with Apple's iPhone 7 Plus... It's a smart move to get a little bit of clear air between the Note reveal and the avalanche of Apple's reveal," wrote Ewan Spence of Forbes Magazine.
According to Mobile & Apps, Samsung Galaxy Note 6 or 7 will boast the following specs and features: 5.8 inch 2560 X 1440 Quad HD Super AMOLED Curved display, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS, Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 823 processor, Adreno 530 GPU, 6 GB of RAM, 12-megapixel rear with Super Ol5 Plus, 5-megapixel selfie camera, storage option of 64 GB and 128 GB (with microSD expansion slot), iris scanner, onscreen fingerprint scanner, IP 68 certified waterproofing features, 4000 mAh battery, and Type - C USB port.
Meanwhile, a report from CNET stated that the tech giant is gearing up for an August roll out with a hefty supply of Galaxy Note 7 units ready for shipment. An unnamed insider source revealed that Samsung is preparing 5 million units of its stylus-based phablet for its first batch of rollout.
