As one of the most highly anticipated films next year, the upcoming "Star Wars" Episode 8 is expected to attract a legion of solid fans across generations. But being a hugely successful box office franchise also invites all sorts of rumors and speculations online as fans endlessly scour the internet for spoilers.
Latest leaked details of the movie script underline Rey's character and importance in the upcoming installment. The said script purportedly reveals a dialogue between Luke and Rey. As the script goes, Luke Skywalker is telling Rey the story behind the origins of the Jedi Order.
As revealed by Game & Guide, Luke gives Rey an important history lesson about the birth of the Jedi Order. He tells Rey that a long time ago, two siblings (a boy and a girl) grew up near a mysterious tree which made both of them powerful. Unfortunately, the boy was overwhelmed with greed and killed his sister in a fit of rage during an argument. Unable to overcome his grief and guilt, the boy went on to murder his entire family. Interestingly, his sister managed to survive her brother's murderous attack and established the Jedi Order later on.
The myth further states that first Jedi Knight and founder of the Order disappeared mysteriously but prophesied that she would return one day in a reincarnated form in order to restore balance to the Force. The leak mentions that Anakin Skywalker (aka Darth Vader) was previously mistaken as the Chosen One. The details seem to point to the possibility of Rey being the Chosen One or the first Jedi Knight's reincarnation. This theory may have some credible weight in it given Rey's revealed power in "The Force Awakens."
Latin Post noted that Rey's true origins, as revealed in the alleged leaked scripts, proved how previous interpretations of the prophecy turned out wrong and that Anakin was never the Chosen One. Nevertheless, discussing the prophesy in the film looks like a fresh attempt to fill the gap between Star Wars' three trilogies, an idea that doesn't seem to suit Disney and Lucasfilm well.
Meanwhile, one last interesting thing about the latest leak is the supposed inclusion of Yoda in a three-way discussion on Jedi history which also includes Rey and Luke as revealed in a screenshot by Stormtrooper Larry. Lastly, if the so-called script is actually real, then it kills a longstanding rumor that Luke fathered Rey.
