According to Aaron Korsch, "Suits" show runner, season 6 will pick up exactly where it left off. "We're coming back right where we left off," Korsh told The Hollywood Reporter in March. "We're coming back to the very night that we ended the episode on. The entire episode as is currently contemplated takes place with Mike's first night in prison and the first night back at the firm when they've come back and it's empty."
As per the new promo, viewers can see that Mike is inside a prison cell. His life is in flashbacks and the fans will be able to see some of his important life events. These memories include his first meeting with Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and his relationship with Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle).
Due to Mike's lies, his relationship with Rachel gets severely impacted. As season 5 came to an end, Mike decides to let Rachel go, even though she wants to get married to him. Mike makes a selfless decision so that Rachel can move on and get a better future.
Meanwhile, it is still unknown as to what will happen to Mike, now that he is in prison. His relationship with Harvey and Rachel will also be further explored in the upcoming season as the future of Pearson Specter Litt hangs in the balance. Korsch, however, says that the production team has already figured out the duration of Mike's incarceration on the show.
Speculations indicate that the sixth season will be centered around Mike's time in prison and his days of survival. "There are a few twists and turns. But he's not a jailhouse lawyer, so to speak," Korsh said.
"Suits" season 6 will premiere on July 13, 9 p.m. EST on the USA Network.
