8-Year-Old Boy, Noshat Nahian, Dies After Being Struck By Tractor-Trailer In Queens

An 8-year-old boy died on Friday after being struck by a tractor-trailer in Queens on his way to school, the New York Daily News reported.

Noshat Nahian was walking on the crosswalk with his 11-year-old sister at 8 a.m. when the truck turned onto the street and hit him. They were one block away from their school, P.S. 152.

After the incident, the boy's sister ran home to get their mother as two school employees tried to help the boy. The girl was not injured in the accident.

"She just ran to get her mother at home," said a witness. "I just saw the kid laying on the floor. I think he was dead."

According to the New York Post, another witness who spoke with the boy's mother said "She was out of her brain. She was crying and asking 'what's going on?'

According to authorities, Nahian was rushed to Elmhurst General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

"I just saw the truck turn and the sister screamed," said Asana Arzu, 31, a neighbor of the boy's family. "His face was bloody and sallow. His limbs looked broken."

Police said it was unclear if the driver would be facing criminal charges and the investigation is ongoing. A report by CBS said the Department of Education sent crisis counselors to the school.
