Elementary Season 2 Spoilers: Sherlock & Co. Approach Moriarty For Help; EP Talks Holmes' Advantage Over His Arch Nemesis

Watching Sherlock interact with Moriarty brought some of the highlights of "Elementary" during Season 1.

Now that Natalie Dormer is returning this season to once again play Sherlock's nemesis/potential love interest, we can expect more of the same great back and forth between the two characters.

A recent sneak peek, provided to EOnline, of the episode in which Dormer guest stars shows just how good of an episode we're in for. The video begins with

Moriarty (to Sherlock) - "You look a bit tired"

Sherlock - "You look a bit evil".

As Executive Producer Rob Doherty recently told EW.com, Sherlock and Joan will suspect Moriarty's involvement in a kidnapping.

According to the sneak peek one of Moriarty's lieutenants (the same one who called Joan and Sherlock and pretended to be his boss) is connected to the kidnapping. It seems as if Moriarty knows nothing about it (of course you never know with her) but she is hesitant to give up information on her lieutenant. Therefore, Sherlock has an idea. He promises to continue writing Moriarty after she's lock away in prison (she's currently on house arrest.)

She calmly replies, "You're going to do that anyway."

This scene shows Moriarty talking to Holmes, Watson and Cpt. Gregson, but Doherty told EW.com, Jane and Sherlock will get "a little alone time over the course of the episode."

Doherty also touched on the factor that allowed Sherlock to eventually best Moriarty - Watson.

"She recognizes that she was defeated but she hasn't quite figured it out yet," Doherty explains. "I think she's certainly one to point out that she has a lot in common with Sherlock, but unlike him, she has remained independent to her detriment and, ultimately, that's really what led to her downfall last year.

"She doesn't have a Watson in her life, and she could probably benefit from one. Sherlock and Joan as a unit tend to be stronger than Moriarty as a solo."

"Elementary" returns Jan. 2 on CBS.
