The new God of War game that was showcased by Sony at E3 is unlikely to feature multiplayer gaming.
According to recent reports, the game's director Cory Barlog cleared the air in a recent interview. He said the game will not feature multiplayer and that Kratos is the only playable character in the game. His unnamed son cannot be controlled by players though he can be issued instructions. That means players wanting to team up will have to return to God of War Ascension, the only game in the series featuring multiplayer.
The new game's trailer that Sony demoed at E3 has sent fans into a tizzy. It revealed an older, bearded Kratos in a never-before seen bad-ass avatar. A fight sequence with a troll revealed graphic detail unseen in previous GoW games. It also showed a boy, Kratos' son, alongside the father. The storyline has not been revealed but the demo provided enough to get fans speculating.
"At about 3:33 you can see the human? in the background behind the kid. The cloaked thing just stands there until 3:45 where it then dashes away," a Reddit GoW fan wondered. "Who is it? What is it? Is it a creature?"
These cloaked figures are seen throughout the video and many have speculated they are spirits and spies of Norse gods. Some have said the cloaked figure could be Loki. Sony and its Santa Monica Studio that developed the game have remained mum about these discussions.
Ever since the trailer was demoed, one of the enduring questions is about the identity of the boy. Many have speculated he could be Thor, given that he shots a lightning arrow. It looks like gamers have to wait till the game's release to know.
The appearance of the child has also raised questions if Kratos is passing on the mantle and if this game will be his last. Thankfully Barlog reportedly settled these saying Kratos will feature in games beyond this title.
