Putting an end to weeks of speculation, serial tipster Evan Blass has claimed Samsung's next phablet will be called Note 7.
Blass as an impressive record vis-à-vis Samsung leaks. His Note 5 specs and image leaks were spot on last year. Blass, who goes by Twitter handle evleaks, did not reveal much but simply put out the purported Note 7 logo with the tweet 'confirmed'. Numerous reports have claimed in recent weeks Samsung is planning to skip '6' in favor of '7' to bring congruence to branding and marketing of its Galaxy device. The naming change is seen as syncing the Note with flagship Galaxy S7 phones. Blass also claimed the new Note will feature iris scanner.
The company has not confirmed anything in the recent past but tech-watchers found a user profile page listing on Samsung website for what could be Galaxy Note 6/7, codenamed SM-N930F. Specifications or launch date have been official confirmed but word doing the rounds is Samsung could unveil the device August 2.
Some of the rumored specifications of the phablet include a curved Edge 5.8-inch QHD display. New Note could substitute Edge Plus device that Samsung did not launch this year when it unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Display of the device has garnered attention with some reports suggesting the screen used on S7 could find its way to Note. Reports from South Korea have also affirmed Samsung would release Note 6/7 with edge-curved display.
The new display on the Note would also need an improved S-Pen that can write on the edge screen.
Other rumored specifications of the device include Snapdragon 823 processor coupled with Adreno 530 GPU with as much as 6GB or even 8GB RAM. The device could be equipped with 256 GB storage but may not provide options for expansion.
