The F.B.I. released still and video images of two "armed and dangerous" suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing on Thursday evening and asked for the public's help in identifying them.
The images released to the public are of two men who are wearing baseball caps, one a black cap, the other white. One of the men is seen placing a black backpack at the site of the second blast in Monday's attack. The video shows both men walking together through the crowd, suggesting they know each other and worked together.
"Somebody out there knows these individuals...though it may be difficult, the nation is counting on those with information to come forward and provide it to us," Boston FBI Special Agent in Charge Richard DesLauriers said at a Thursday briefing.
"We consider them to be armed and extremely dangerous," DesLauriers said of the men. "No one should approach them...If you see these men, contact law enforcement."
Mr. DesLauriers urged anyone who has seen the men, or who knows who they are, to call 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324).
The FBI asked the public for their help identifying the suspects, but asked the public not to approach them. Though the men are considered armed and dangerous, the FBI said they still do not believe there is an imminent danger in the area.
The Boston Marathon bombing left three people dead and more than 170 wounded in dual blasts near the finish line of the Boston Marathon Monday. No group, foreign or domestic, has claimed responsibility.
