To the fans of "The Blacklist", September will be a cool month when Season 4 is aired on the 22nd. Rumours whisper about a split between the FBI and Red Reddington (James Spader), because of what happened in the Season 3 finale episode---there was the betrayal by Liz Keen (Megan Boone) and Mr Kaplan (Susan Blommaert). A big twist, that.
It was clarified in Season 1 that Red Reddington is not Liz Keen's dad. Alexander Kirk aka Constantine Rostova (Ulrich Thomsen) is her father, as Season 3 disclosed.
Executive producer John Eisendrath told Entertainment Weekly about what could become of Kirk.: "That's definitely a cliffhanger for next year," Eisendrath says. "It's definitely an, 'Oh my God, who really is this person, what's his agenda and what is going to happen to Liz?' We're left with Red and everyone aware of the fact that Liz is alive, and she's also been abducted."
The start of the "The Blacklist" Season 4 is going to be a bit of a wringer for you. Red Reddington will project a rather tenuous psychological stance. He thinks that he is doing it for Liz Keen, although she had rejected him in Season 3 when she left her identity and pretended to die to escape Reddington.
Megan Boone has spoken a bit about Liz Keen. She says that Liz will continue to get spurred in "The Blacklist" Season 4 by believing that Red Reddington is motivated by only self-interest. Though Red Reddington labours under the illusion that he is "supporting and protecting" Liz Keen, he is motivated by some selfishness. She said, "I don't think she trusts this guy. He took away her family and possibly the anonymity she tried to gain by faking her death."
According to the The Wall Street Journal "The Blacklist" Season 3 twist was a big secret from the actors in the series. Even the revival of Liz Keen was done is secret, says executive producer Jon Bokenkamp. In the coming Season 4, though, Liz Keen and the FBI asset Red Reddington will still go strong, the Post Office team is expected to enlarge. However, there is thought to be some friction between Reddington and Keen, and it will affect Mossad agent (Mozhan Marnò) Samar Navabi the most.
Jon Bokenkamp had some more things to add. Harry Cooper (Harry Lennix) the Assistant Director of Counterterrorism, may get into darker places in this Season 4. Liz Keen has lied to the Post Office earlier, but the team will recover in Season 4.
A lot of rubbing and friction among Liz Keen, Reddington, and Alexander Kirk is expected.
