Two 90's entertainment titans have merged in the Doom 2 version of Seinfeld's Manhattan apartment.
Doom 2: Hell on Earth is a classic '94 FPS game- the second iteration of the Doom franchise. The shooter game revolves around a space marine who returned to Earth only to discover the slaughter of entire humanity by demons. Seinfeld, on the other hand, is a comedy sitcom about the absurdities of everyday life in Manhattan, New York.
As reported by Hot New Hip Hop, Doug Keener created a Doom 2 custom map that virtually replicates Jerry Seinfeld's apartment. He was quite meticulous in paying attention to details. Instead of encountering hordes of demons, you will have a virtual walk down the memory lane with all the apartment features such as the bike hanging from the ceiling the, blue couch in the living room, the stacked cereal boxes in the cupboard, and even the red-tiled bathroom.
Moreover, as you get inside Seinfeld's apartment from the corridor, you get to bump into the show's characters like Jerry, Elaine, Kramer George, and Newman. According to The Next Web, Keener reportedly labored for one hundred hours just to flawlessly recreate the sitcom environment as a mod in Doom 2 fashion.
Meanwhile, Bethesda Softworks previously announced the release of virtual reality (VR) versions of Doom 2016 and Fallout 4 at the recently concluded E3 2016, University Herald reported. The two brand games will be one of the VR games that the game publisher is planning to roll out on HTC Vive VR.
But before the highly anticipated VR release, Bethesda must first address the issue of motion sickness brought about by Doom's uber-fast gameplay. VR-specific adaptations may be necessary to make gamers feel comfortable while playing the FPS game in a highly immersive environment.
There might be also be a need to slightly lessen the amount of horror-themed content in the survival series as developers study the psychological effects of VR gaming on players.
